It has pools, a spa and several restaurants on its own stretch of beach, and Google gives it 4.4 from about 3,900 reviews. Like most north-coast resorts it's popular with families and package groups. Use the hotel for boat trips and excursions rather than offers on the beach. Kenya criminalises sex between men, so keep affection out of public areas.

I spent three weeks at the hotel and was particularly impressed by the food and the highly professional and friendly staff. I would especially like to commend Hezron (bartender) and Tekla (entertainment/reception); they were truly dedicated and extremely friendly – something I've rarely experienced in a hotel. The entire staff really elevated the holiday to another level. Even though I was there during the off-season, there was a good program and entertainment every evening. The holiday was definitely worthwhile, and I highly recommend the hotel.
