If you need a hostel in Auckland, this is the place! Whether you need shared or double rooms, everything is very clean and tidy. Beautiful spaces.

Perfecto! Research led me to either Verandahs or LyLo. I'm glad I chose Verendahs. This is not a party hostel but it also isn't boring. Great people, great vibes, somehow always clean (well you see the workers work really hard at keeping it so)! Good for a budget--you can find cheaper places online but when you read the reviews they don't sound the cleanest/safest! V's offered a good budget for a safe, clean place with kind folk. Hostels have changed since the invention of the smartphone but even as an introvert I found people would still check in and talk to me; leading to nice conversations and camaraderie. If you are more extroverted, don't use headphones etc you will find it very easy to engage with people! If you are more introverted you will find it the perfect balance. Only cons are no lockers but their luggage room has a camera (and the kitchen does too)! So it's actually very safe. The beds could be a bit soft but that's a personal preference and I'd take a clean, safe, soft bed over an unsafe, dirty, hard bed. Also I just slept in the opposite direction and found it firmer that way (probably just normal wear). Also appreciate it's owned by 3 kiwi brothers (support local rather than some foreign-owned corporate place).

Good vibes. I stayed here when I arrived in NZ, and enjoyed it enough to stay again when I left. Fantastic kitchen, and the "free" table where people donate their unused items is super cool

Such a beautiful architectural hostel, made up of two Victorian homes. Your surrounded by character, nice stuff, friendly people. Great location and walking distance to the city. The rooms were a little disappointing with no privacy or lockers, does make up for clean spacious bathrooms. Differently do recommend this place when staying in Adelaide.

Clean, cozy, super friendly people, well equipped and right by the park with a nice view of the sky tower from the veranda. What more could you want? Big recommendation
