Der Tote Grund is a long-standing gay section of the Donauinsel naturist zone on the Neue Donau, with an adjacent nude beach and wooded cruising in summer. It is tolerated and busiest on warm afternoons. Visit in daylight, keep an eye on your belongings, and be mindful that wooded sections are secluded. Austrian law fully protects same-sex activity between adults in private; keep public conduct discreet.
