"To be and to dance are one and the same," says Gašper Kunšek. Creating in the dance medium, a medium of movement and variability, already implies that "being" is not a solid phenomenon, but rather a space of variation, transformation, and construction. But what are the conditions for change? We enter the author's theory of inner transformation.
Sun and Iron is a process of preparation and purification that requires the artist's discipline of body and spirit. Kunšek refers to radical yogis who sought uncompromising truth through extreme living. His body becomes a dance machine, his movements, imbued with effort and silence, are part of an old, almost forgotten language with which art reveals meaning.
The author's characteristic aesthetics and methodology come to the forefront, but on a new level. Sun and Iron intertwines dances ranging from classical ballet, contemporary dance, and performance to street breakdance and hip hop, shattering the polar relationship between the beautiful and the brutal, the controlled and the uninhibited.
