CLOSING WEEKEND | Archival Chain Reactions: Gaps in the Archive and Forgotten Connections
September 11–13, 2026
Museum of Contemporary Art Metelkova (+MSUM)
We warmly invite you to the closing events of the exhibition Archival Chain Reactions: Between and Beyond Archivo Pinto mi Raya, re.act.feminism, City of Women. Alongside co-curators Ive Kovač and Bettina Knaup, we will be joined by artists and writers selma banich and the Politics of Touch collective, Jule Flierl, Agata Jakubowska, Mónica Mayer, Elva Peniche Montfort, and Vesna Vuković, who, in their diverse practices, address gaps in archives and forgotten artistic or institutional connections – through acts of voicing, metabolizing, tracing, or gifting.
Choreographer Jule Flierl, in her intergenerational performance, draws on the works of performance artists and collectives from the German Democratic Republic (GDR) in an attempt to reorient the gaze towards the blurred history of dissident art in the GDR.
One of the exhibits presented at the exhibition is a 1982 exhibition catalog from Sarajevo, which testifies to an earlier connection between different geopolitical contexts: in the early 1980s, Mexico, West Germany, former Yugoslavia, and other (Eastern) European countries hosted a traveling exhibition featuring works by several generations of Mexican women artists, among whom Mónica Mayer stood out.
