What reviewers say

Many visitors praise the Jamaica Inn for its excellent food and welcoming, friendly staff who provide pleasant and polite service. However, some guests have experienced disappointment with a lack of atmosphere, long waits for service at the bar and check-in, and one reviewer found a feather in their food.

About this place Jamaica Inn

Jamaica Inn is an 18th-century coaching inn at Bolventor, in the middle of Bodmin Moor in Cornwall, just off the A30. It's a mainstream, gay-friendly inn, not a gay venue. It's famous for giving its name to Daphne du Maurier's 1936 novel, and it has a pub, a restaurant, guest rooms and a small smugglers' museum. Google rates it 4.2 from about 9,600 reviews. It's a busy stop for coaches and road-trippers in the daytime, then much quieter at night. That's when the moor feels properly remote. It works as an overnight stop or a base for moor walks. Launceston is about 20 minutes away by car, and Bodmin is closer.

Stopped for a coffee, took 10 minutes to get a table, then forgotten about, so left.

I visited last year for the first time. It's a must visit place. Food is nice. Returned this year, food is still nice. As I have been twice, I probably won't return in the future. Worth at least one visit.
