About This Event
Pride in Surrey is the county's Pride parade and park festival, first held in Woking in August 2019 and now based in Guildford, with a parade down the High Street into Stoke Park. Entry has been pay-what-you-can, with a paid 18+ Pride Plus area.
The organisation has a difficult recent history. Co-founder Stephen Ireland was convicted in March 2025 of raping a 12-year-old boy and other child sex offences, and was jailed for 24 years. In July 2025 Surrey County Council withdrew its funding and told staff not to attend in an official capacity, saying the group wasn't representative of the whole LGBTQ+ community; Godalming Town Council gave a small grant instead to keep free entry options going.
The last edition went ahead at Stoke Park on 6 September 2025. The 2026 festival, planned for 8 August, was postponed in June 2026: organisers cited rising costs and falling corporate sponsorship, and said all tickets were refunded. They named Saturday 11 September 2027 as the new date. Some event listings still show the cancelled 2026 date, so check prideinsurrey.co.uk before travelling.
