If I could give 0 stars I would I recently stayed at this hotel as part of my cousin’s hen weekend, and what should have been a lovely celebration turned into a genuinely frightening experience. At first glance the room looked fine, but it quickly became obvious that the hotel was not well maintained. The room itself wasn’t particularly clean, several things were broken, and the jet bath didn’t work at all. While disappointing, those issues were nothing compared to what happened later that night. There were six women staying in our room. In the early hours of the morning, after returning from our night out, we were let into the hotel by reception as the main entrance had been locked. The receptionist even commented that there were “a few looneys about tonight,” which made us assume security was being taken seriously. A couple of hours later we woke up horrified to find a man asleep on the floor inside our hotel room. None of us knew him. We were panicked, confused and honestly terrified. When we confronted him and asked him to try his key card on the door, it opened our room perfectly. The reality of how dangerous this situation could have been is extremely upsetting. We were lucky that he appeared harmless and intoxicated, but things could have ended very differently. Some of the group immediately went to reception demanding an explanation. After reviewing CCTV, staff confirmed that the man had simply asked for a room key and was handed one without any identification checks, confirmation of name, or verification against booking details. It was pure negligence. What made the situation even worse was the receptionist’s attitude afterwards. Rather than treating the matter seriously, they responded with: “At least it’s a good story to tell.” I found this unbelievably unprofessional and completely dismissive of how unsafe and violated we felt. The manager later admitted that although their computer system was down that evening, staff still had access to paper records and should have checked guest details properly before issuing any replacement keys. Basic safety procedures were ignored. The police were contacted and are aware of the incident, although no formal action could be taken because technically no crime had been committed. That does not change how serious this was. A complete stranger was given access to a room occupied by six women in the middle of the night. This experience has left us all extremely shaken and anxious, and the way the situation was handled from start to finish was appalling. I would strongly urge anyone considering staying here to think carefully, because guest safety clearly is not taken seriously enough.

CAUSE FOR CONCERN! THEY GAVE A MAN A KEY TO A ROOM FULL OF FEMALES! I stayed here recently for my hen weekend, and honestly – what started off looking nice quickly turned into an absolute nightmare. On first walking into the room it seemed okay, but looking closer it was obvious the hotel is poorly maintained. It was dirty throughout, and facilities didn’t work at all – the jet bath was completely unusable. We could have put up with all of that, but what happened next was absolutely unacceptable and dangerous. There were 6 of us women staying in the room. We returned in the early hours of the morning; the main door was locked, and when the receptionist let us in they said 'Sorry, there are a few looneys about tonight'. At the time we thought they were being careful – how wrong we were. A couple of hours later we woke up in total shock to find a strange man fast asleep inside our room. We were terrified, turned the lights on, and he woke up confused before leaving. We made him test his key card on our door – it worked perfectly. We were incredibly lucky that he was harmless and had just had too much to drink, because this situation could so easily have ended in serious harm, assault or something far worse. This was a massive failure of safety and security. Members of our group went straight down to reception to demand answers. After checking CCTV, it turned out he had simply walked in, said a random room number, and was handed a key there and then. No ID was checked, no names were matched, no verification was done whatsoever – it was pure carelessness. When we raised this, the receptionist actually had the nerve to say: 'At least it’s a good story to tell'. I have never heard anything so unprofessional, dismissive and disrespectful in my life. When the manager arrived we explained everything in full. He admitted that although their system was down that night, there was still a full paper record available which staff should have used to check details properly – they simply chose not to. We contacted the police, who are fully aware of the incident, but confirmed no formal action could be taken as technically no crime had occurred. But make no mistake – what happened here is a serious breach of safety, privacy and duty of care. It has left every single one of us feeling anxious, shaken and completely let down. The way this whole incident has been dealt with has been nothing short of appalling, and it is clear this hotel cannot be trusted to keep its guests safe. I would warn anyone thinking of booking here – do not risk it. We are absolutely disgusted and will never be returning.

Can only fault myself not checking that it is directly next to a Nightclub with rooms not having windows that block out sound.

Had the best night in the art house hotel with the sweetest staff members Charlotte Joe and Ava looked after us made us so comfortable from moment of entry and all our queries were answered, they made our stay so pleasant would definitely recommend for a large group of friends or hen do party noise was never an issue and we had the luxury of a gorgeous tub which was lovely and warm! Will definitely be back here 🤍

I am writing to complain about the ongoing financial conduct at Arthouse Hotel Liverpool. As a room investor, I have not received the promised rent payments completely, and many others are in the same position for over years while the hotel continues to operate and take bookings.

Accessible room en suite was full of mold and needs to be refitted badly. If you are disabled and immunocompromised, do not book here!
