Fringe! Queer Film & Arts Fest
About This Event
Fringe! is London's volunteer-run queer film and arts festival, born in 2011 out of queer creatives' frustration with arts budget cuts. It's a scrappy, political alternative to the big institutional queer film events. You'll find screenings, installations, workshops, debates, and club nights, many of which are free or cheap - think £5 tickets to a documentary screening.
It takes over East London for about nine days in mid-September. The Rio Cinema in Dalston, the Cinema Museum in Kennington, and even the Hackney Wick Community Sauna have all hosted events in recent years.
The 15th edition, which ran 13–21 September 2025, included over 100 films from 27 countries. It kicked off with Niñxs, a documentary about a young trans woman coming of age. The following year's edition, the 16th, took place 12–20 September 2026, with partner screenings at UCL's Community Cinema and the Garden Cinema.
When we checked, the 2027 dates hadn't been announced.
