Friday, September 18, 2026 – 3:00 PM. Why: Turkish authorities launched on September 12 the most extensive and coordinated action against LGBTQ+ civil society in many years. In an update as of September 15, 2026, 11:30 PM from Unikuir, it states that at least 112 people have been arrested in connection with the operations, of whom 43 are defenders of queer rights. At least 62 people have been arrested. The authorities' narrative about the coordinated action is that it is all about protecting the family. The organizations affected include seven queer rights organizations and two organizations working with people living with HIV.
