Exhibition TRIEB+ brings together artists 60+ and investigates desire as a driving force of creation
About the event
The independent space deCurators presents, from September 19, the exhibition TRIEB+, with works in various languages created by four artists over 60 years old.
The articulation of this collective exhibition is inspired by the Freudian notion of drive (trieb), a boundary concept between the somatic and the psychic. This appears understood by the simultaneous effect of its vectors: as the force of desire, instinct, and creativity, the Drive of Eros, and as an innate force that seeks inertia, the absence of tension, the Drive of Death. The exhibition proposes a reflection on artistic creation in maturity and highlights the protagonism of artists who continue to reinvent their languages throughout their lives.
Does artistic production lose strength over the years or find new possibilities for creation and desire? It is from this question that TRIEB+ brings together Andrea Campos de Sá, Gisel Carriconde Azevedo, Miguel Simão, and Valéria Pena-Costa, artists active in the Brasília visual arts scene since the 1990s.
Curated by Gisel Carriconde Azevedo and Marília Panitz, the exhibition invites the public to reflect on longevity, experimentation, and (im)permanence in contemporary art.
In a circuit often oriented towards the valorization of the new, TRIEB+ shifts the gaze to constantly transforming trajectories.
