Praia Mole Summer Festival 2026
About This Event
The Praia Mole Summer Festival isn't really a festival. It’s the three-month party that takes over Florianópolis's famous gay beach from December through February. Think of it as peak season, when LGBTQ+ tourists, beach parties, and special events turn Praia Mole into something else entirely.
You won't find one big organized event. Instead, it's a non-stop run of beach parties, DJ sets at the *barracas* (beach bars), and special New Year's celebrations. This continuous scene is why Praia Mole is one of South America's best gay beach spots.
January is the busiest month. The sand fills with LGBTQ+ visitors from São Paulo, Rio, Porto Alegre, and Buenos Aires. *Barracas* crank out live music and DJ sets from late morning until sunset. The beach sits in a natural amphitheater, with granite headlands and Atlantic Forest all around. It's one of the most spectacular backdrops for a summer party anywhere.
New Year's Eve (Reveillon) on Praia Mole is its own thing, with celebrations spilling into New Year's Day. If you're planning to come for the Summer Festival, book your room months ahead. *Pousadas* near Praia Mole sell out by August for the January rush. Expect the full intensity of a big Brazilian summer tourist destination.

Practical Tips
Bar do Deca at the northern end is the daytime meet-up; head there mid-afternoon.
The rip currents at Mole are serious — swim between the lifeguard flags.
Bring cash — card readers on the sand cut out whenever summer storms roll in.
