About this place Maleza Valparaíso - Restaurante

Maleza is a sit-down restaurant at Almirante Montt 727 in Valparaíso. It is a mainstream place listed here as gay-friendly, not a gay venue. It sits in the upper price tier for the city and holds a 4.7 Google rating from about 180 reviews, which is a strong score for a small local restaurant. Almirante Montt is one of the streets running up from the flat downtown toward the tourist hills, so it works for lunch or dinner on a walking day around the cerros. We have no current opening hours for it, so check before you go, and book ahead at weekends.

What a fabulous meal and such a unique menu. We had mushrooms, fish, mussels, sausage, wine, bread served with a carrot puree, pistachio chocolate cheesecake (outstanding!). Enjoyed every last bite. Do not hesitate, this is a special dining experience.

A great option in Cerro Alegre. With a lovely view of the hills, you'll find excellent quality dishes.

The food is the best: mote, octopus, herbs, mushrooms. I love this place.

Unfortunately, we had a bad experience at this restaurant. We ordered three dishes to share with my vegan companion: gnocchi, hominy, and mushrooms in garlic and olive oil. The dishes were delicious, and the menu clearly stated that they were vegan, as was the apple tart we ordered. The portion sizes and wait times were excellent. The problem was that one of the drinks we ordered at the end was a vermouth sour that contained albumin (an egg derivative), an ingredient not listed on the menu. They should list all the ingredients used in their cocktails or indicate if a cocktail is suitable for vegans, as they do with the dishes. Ultimately, this incident marred the entire experience, and we left disappointed, even though we had enjoyed everything else.

A high-quality restaurant with excellent food, exquisite flavors, and equally impressive cocktails. 10/10 service and speed.

Beyond the aesthetics of the place, which don't say much... you can enjoy some truly spectacular and original dishes

The place is quite cozy, clean, and has an open kitchen. We tried some delicious "choritos borrachos" (drunken mussels), where classic flavors stood out but were very well balanced; you end up eating them with your hands. We also tried a fish tiradito, very fresh and full of flavor; the sprouts that crown the dish were a nice touch. The cocktails are also outstanding, both the sour and the different types of Negronis—DELICIOUS. We got a table at the entrance, in a garden-style setting, and the service from the whole team was very friendly.
