In Canada, it is well known that 2SLGBTQI+ people and official minority language communities face significant health barriers: access to care, health inequalities, and the effects of social determinants. But what do we know about people at the intersection of these realities and, more broadly, about the experiences of those who face multiple forms of marginalization?
This conference presented by Maxe F. Giguère, research associate at the Manitoba LGBTQ* Collective, member of the 2S/LGBTQ+ Health Expertise Network (University of Toronto, 2025-26 cohort) and graduate of a master's degree on the ethics of psychiatric diagnoses (Université Laval), proposes, based on the Collective's work with Franco/Queer communities, a critical reading of the blind spots in the organization of services and research in Canada – blind spots that leave intersectional realities in the shadows.
