Moonstone is a small rural hamlet in Oro-Medonte, Simcoe County, best known for the Mount St. Louis Moonstone ski resort in Ontario's Horseshoe Valley. It is cottage-and-ski country rather than a nightlife destination, so there are no exclusively gay hotels here - but Ontario is famously welcoming, and the inns and resorts around Moonstone are comfortable, mainstream places that gladly host LGBTQ+ guests.
Because Moonstone sits between Barrie and Orillia just off Highway 400, most visitors base themselves at one of the cottage-country resorts within a short drive. Here are some of the closest options.
