Sir Sam's Inn and Spa- Ontario's Cottage Country Adult Resort

Brutal Customer Service. I made a reservation for next September, received confirmation. Over a month later they contacted me to tell me that they could not accommodate my stay and were cancelling my reservation. I replied twice to ask why but received no response. Working in the industry I suspect they were happy to accept my money but another guest likely did a buyout or booked a wedding room block forcing them to cancel on me. I'm not left scrambling to find a reputable room in the area (which are few and far between). There were several more available two months ago when I booked this one. At least they could have been honest and replied to my emails.

Always a blast at Sir Sams, if you're a boujee person probly not the place for you. Tons of maintenence and general problems need attending to. Very quiet and charming place. Book a room, light a fire, and enjoy your company. The food is outstanding. Lots of reviews complaining about the price. Good food is everywhere. GREAT food is hard to find. Sir Sams had Great food!!! If you're looking for a high end hotel or spa then go find one. If you want peace and tranquility in semi-private quiet place surrounded by lovely people then give Sir Sams a try! (This message is for Sir Sams, upgrade your toilet paper and kleenex. There bloody see through)

I stayed with my partner at Sir Sam's Inn for 2 nights in late March 2026. It was INCREDIBLE, partly because I had such low expectations after reading some of the reviews (which are, and there is no doubt in my mind, completely unfair; more on that later). The staff at Sir Sam's (including the General Manager, Tracey, whom you might meet at reception or the restaurant) work *extra* hard to make the guests feel comfortable. Ask, and you will receive! The inn is beyond charming, the rooms well-appointed, the water in the spa warm enough to spend the entire day (and yes, we did), there are more comfy chairs to sit in the many (many!) common rooms than there are guests in the entire place... and it's just so freakin' pretty. The lake is steps away, and the entire place is designed around it: the point is to be with nature. And it works! We didn't want to leave... in fact, we almost didn't... Now, for the haters who wrote some of the other reviews: Guys. The practical reality is that parts of the building have existed for over a century. This means that yes, lots of little pieces could use some TLC. No, I will not list them; clearly, the owners/management are choosing not to do that. It looks to me like they are more focused on ensuring that this place over-delivers on its key promise: to be a historic inn offering an escape for those who want to relax and be with nature. Those who expect a marble-clad room, a limo service, an infinity pool, or who are inspired by accommodations that bill themselves as "world-class", "ultra-luxury", or (worst of all) "iconic", should 100% look elsewhere. In fact, the rest of us, who just want an accessible place to chill, would prefer that you did. P.S. Sam's Inn is 100% iconic -- just not in that try-hard way I've seen countless examples of around Ontario. Please never change.

Room 21 bit out dated .tub nice very small shower. Tiny fridge. No microwave. This was on winter. Lot nicer summer . Overall. Good .brought are own food drinks . Bar ,9 bottle beer lol. Say staff nice pool nice to relac

We had a very enjoyable stay. Once you understand how difficult it is to run a place like this you may appreciate the amenities. With minimal staff we were taken great care of, excellent meals were served, and the spa was body temperature, all the jets were working. Mind you this place is likely cooler than you are used to. We wore sweaters indoors routinely. Fireplaces in the rooms are standard, you may have to fetch your own wood but they provide plenty of it. Some things are in disrepair around the buildings, they could certainly use a good handyman (i am one which is why I noticed) but overall they manage to run the place with very few staff. It is not the Ritz, but it has an old world charm and our stay was refreshing. Beds were excellent, food was very good, we stayed 4 nights and would come back. It's a bit rustic in winter, but if you leave the princess mentality behind you will enjoy your stay.

Nice old Inn on the beautiful Eagle Lake. Place needs something that I'm unable describe. Perhaps the best thing about this old Inn is the massage service. Anca is a very professional and informed person we enjoyed our visit in particular the hot stones treatment that my wife had. Spectacular feeling I would recommend this to anyone.

Jeff is awesome! He makes the best chocolate martini and his personality is fantastic! Looking forward for our massages with Anca tomorrow! A great place and highly recommend! It's a fantastic vibe, plus they have live entertainment!

This is a really well laid out inn lots of great common areas the rooms were large. Its a little run down needs some more basic maintenances in the rooms and pool area. Breakfast was amazing really generous and fresh. We had dinner one night and it was good steak, pickeral, chicken …. Service was ok. I would go back

Sir Sam's felt like stepping back in time upon arrival and while there are some aspects that need a little updating before you realize it you are relaxed in an Inn with history. Breakfast is amazing, Tammy is incredible and goes out of her way to help in all aspects. While I can only say winter at Sir Sam's was enjoyable I am sure summer and fall would be too.

Don’t even know where to begin with this stay. Spa prices for a motel environment. Upon arrival, the property initially appeared cute and cozy, but once we settled into our room it was immediately clear that it was not at all as pictured online. The rooms were very run down. Our fireplace was missing one of the glass doors and the damper adjustment, and there was no paper or fire starter provided. To start, the parking lot had not been cleared of snow, which made arrival and unloading stressful and unsafe. There was also very little water in the room from the beginning, and it only got worse as our stay went on. We visited the “spa pool,” where the room temperature was only 65 degrees. The pool itself was in poor condition — tiles were broken in many places and several jets were not working. After a very short time in the pool, we returned to our room to find there was no water at all. No water to shower, and no water to flush the toilet. We addressed this with the front desk and were given the runaround, being told it was due to filters in their system and the kitchen using dishwashers, along with other excuses. If these are known issues, there should be a stockpile of filters or a system upgrade in place — guests should not be without basic necessities. Dinner service was incredibly slow despite there only being a handful of tables. The food itself was mediocre at best and absolutely not worth the price. We also paid extra for a charcuterie board to be waiting in our room upon arrival, yet no knives for the cheese, no napkins, and no serving items of any kind were provided. Overall, I expected far more for what we paid. We paid extra for a jacuzzi room that we were never able to use - it couldn’t be filled, and even when water was available it was barely warm and trickled from the taps. Had we tried, it would have taken hours to fill with cold water. When we expressed our dissatisfaction with the entire experience, the best they offered was $50 off, which honestly felt like a slap in the face after driving hours to get there and not even having access to water. We will not be back, and this is not somewhere I would ever recommend to anyone.

It was a great getaway. The pool was warm, while the air was cold. Nice cottage with a fireplace.
