Stoney Creek Hotel & Conference Center Independence

Hotel manager at night was horrible at making decisions. Life threatening situations were not addressed and seem to be covering up for ghetto Trash guests that were cursing at and in front of children threatening drowning my disabled child and myself and disturbing practically the whole property. They sold a block of rooms and wouldn’t help me call the police the manager definitely made the wrong choice and was a horrible experience. What a joke.

Great location within walking distance to Bass Pro. Lovely setting and outdoor space even though it was too cold to spend time walking the nature trails. Great breakfast and indoor/outdoor heated pool was a big hit with the kids. Loved it!

Everything and everybody was AMAZING!!

Best hotel I ever stayed in. The room was very clean. I asked for a quiet room and they did. The bathroom was amazing with a very modern shower with a place to sit in. Had a wide space to put your toiletries on. The room decorations was awesome. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was very good. We liked it so much we stayed another 2 nights. A lake with a walking path that's is 1.2 miles long. Also had a swimming pool. We did not go to but heard that the kids really enjoyed it.

I’m completely creeped out by the bathroom. Our room looked great at first glance. Strangely, the bathroom smelled like poop. I sprayed the toilet and toilet area with my travel Lysol. Then I decided to wipe the entire toilet down with Lysol wipes. The underside of the toilet seat had poop splatter on it. I called the front desk and the girl nicely offered to have the toilet cleaned again. I said that wasn’t necessary because I had just wiped it down. Afterward, I wished I had taken a photo of the poop splatter, but at the time, all I wanted to do was clean it off. I got in the shower at about 11pm and realized the bathroom hadn’t been cleaned at all, as evidenced by the wad of gray hair left in the drain- see pics. Besides the bathroom being dirty from the previous guest, the top of the bathroom walls have a major mold problem- see pics. I wished I had asked for a different room when I called the front desk earlier, and now it’s almost midnight. I hope the sheets are fresh and not slept on by the guest before me. I can’t wait for morning so I can get out of here.

What a disappointment when I booked this hotel and got there to find the hotel’s condition. It looks like this hotel was built in the 1960’s and a thing hasn’t been refurbished or cleaned since then. The pile of carpet dirt around the room was disgusting. The furniture was all scratched & so worn and I’m not talking vintage style. The overall bathroom hasn’t been looked at since the 60’s also. Don’t look for the convenience of charger outlets- there was one so if there are 2 people you will have to unplug the lamp and stupid clock radio. This hotel is also in an area with nothing around if you need anything. There are much better options in the area. This is off our list.

This was a beautiful getaway from everyday RAS stress we both have been under pressure. Feels like a diamond of love. The trails with waterfalls and locks I walked alone with God, while he worked business/I prayed talking to God out in nature there. Thank you for hospitality and new friends God sent there while decompressing;). Shine love and feel love magnetic energy of beauty.

This is a good hotel, it’s overall pretty clean and it’s really nice. I really like the rustic lodge theme. There’s just one reason I did not give it five stars. They say they are pet friendly which is actually a lie. They only allow dogs which in my opinion doesn’t make any sense. What kind of pet friendly hotel doesn’t allow cats? If they fix that, I will give them five stars, but until then I can give them four. But overall, it’s one of the nicer hotels I’ve seen especially the Kansas City area. I once stayed on a motel 6 in Overland Park if you look at my review, you’ll know it’s not impressed. Unlike the motel 6 I stayed in the door here, latches, and locks, they have mini fridge and they have a microwave. And you also have a free coffee maker with free coffee and free breakfast. Like I said, the not actually per friendly rule is the only complaint I have about this hotel.

Facility is in great condition. Room is in great condition. Nice decor. Spacious. Bed was comfortable, although I prefer very firm. The box spring didn't cause the bed to sag, and we slept well. Breakfast was fine--plenty of variety and lots of seating. One thing to keep in mind: lots of families with kids. Noise didn't affect us, but the pool and hot tub were crowded.

customer satisfaction reviews and hotels this was compared to, this didn’t measure up. Could hear everything from neighboring room and floor above. Breakfast was not great.
