North Carolina Pride 2026
About This Event
North Carolina Pride — also called Triangle Pride — happens in Durham every October. It's the biggest LGBTQ+ event in the state, bringing over 25,000 people to a city that's been central to North Carolina's queer rights fights, especially since HB2 in 2016.
The October timing makes it different. Fall in the Research Triangle means comfortable 15-20°C weather, clear skies, and the first autumn leaves showing up in the Piedmont forests. It's one of the South's most beautiful seasons.
Durham itself is Raleigh's more progressive, arts-focused neighbor. So Triangle Pride here feels like a real celebration of a college town that's given us both great LGBTQ+ institutions and years of political activism.
The parade goes through downtown Durham. You'll pass places like Legends and the community groups that support the Triangle's queer population all year. If you're coming from out of state, Triangle Pride in October means good weather, cheaper hotels than summer events, and access to everything a metro area built around Duke, UNC-Chapel Hill, NC State, and NCCU has to offer.
