About this place Camp David

Camp David, formally Naval Support Facility Thurmont, is a historic presidential country residence in Catoctin Mountain Park, Frederick County, Maryland. You'll find it at 14900 Park Central Road in Thurmont, an important piece of American history tucked into the woods. President Franklin D. Roosevelt first set up this retreat, calling it USS Shangri La. He even modeled the main lodge after his own winter vacation home. Since then, it's been a quiet escape for U.S. Presidents who need a break, and a place to host international leaders. The mountain setting is a fitting backdrop for the venue. It’s a unique spot in the region, letting you explore a national landmark in rural Maryland.

Great place to get away for a few days. As also, it is well defended and well kept with a rich history. Highly recommended that you call before approaching.

Beautiful property. The grounds are stunning, peaceful, and extremely well maintained. Honestly, the bed sheets alone were worth the trip — some of the best sleep I’ve had in years. Staff was professional and the stay overall was excellent. Only small complaint: security is a little intense. They confiscated my nail clippers because they said they could be used as a weapon. I tried explaining they were strictly for personal grooming, but apparently the Secret Service has seen things I haven’t. Would absolutely stay again. Next time I’ll just chew my nails like a normal person.
