We felt extremely uncomfortable here. Not only were we rudely snapped at by the owner, Karin, but other guests also audibly joined in and made fun of us. Apparently, only regulars are treated politely here. The fact that this is advertised as a queer-friendly pub is an absolute outrage; we, as young queer women, felt very unwelcome.

The claim of being an LGBTQ+ friendly store is false. I felt very uncomfortable and was treated disrespectfully – not recommended.

The "LGBTQ friendly" label seems to only apply to select evenings or select guests. As a young lesbian woman, I felt neither welcome nor comfortable here. Karin treated us extremely rudely, and the other guests (apparently regulars) even made fun of us. I've rarely been so disappointed.

It was wonderful. A place shaped by a dynamic landlady. Safe, appreciative, loving, and typical of the Rhineland. It was wonderful.

I highly recommend Karin's fairground basket. It's currently located at the fair in Oberkassel on the Rhine riverbank. It has a fantastic atmosphere with great music, and it's an absolute must for us whenever we go to the fair.

We were at Nähkörchen today and the service was wonderful. Our wines tasted great, the beer was good, and the staff was friendly. The service was perfect, and we'll definitely be back.

A true original – with heart and history For me, the Nähkörbchen (Sewing Basket) is more than just a pub – it's a piece of Düsseldorf's vibrant culture with its own unique character. Everyone is welcome here, without any frills, but with plenty of heart. Anyone looking for honest conversations, a cold punch, and a special atmosphere, and who's open to it, will feel right at home. For over 50 years, Karin and her Nähkörbchen have stood for tolerance, community spirit, and genuine pub charm. The regulars are loyal, and for good reason: those who are friendly are greeted with friendliness. And anyone who thinks they're treated rudely here might just be having a bad day, or maybe even just a bad minute – but they haven't understood the Nähkörbchen. Please be fair in your reviews. Sure, there are certainly a few things that could be modernized or improved. But it's precisely this imperfection that, in my opinion, makes it so endearing. On weekends and during events like Carnival, the Eurovision Song Contest, or Christopher Street Day, the place is bursting at the seams – that speaks for itself. I always enjoy coming back. There are many bars – but only one sewing basket. And this must be preserved!

We were here on Japan Day and received an extremely unfriendly welcome. We will definitely not be coming back!
