Four years ago, I attended a support group for LGBT people there. After the first meeting, everything was fine. At the second, the psychologist (?) who led the group informed me that my problems were too severe for the group's lighthearted nature and that I wasn't welcome. I was supposed to seek help individually. She didn't suggest a psychiatrist, but she suggested electroconvulsive therapy (which isn't done in Poland for a long time and wasn't done back then, so she simply tried to intimidate me, which is a punishable offense, but I gave up at the time). Protests from me and other participants didn't help. I wasn't told how severe my problems were either. For a long time, I didn't bring this up, but when, in a fit of nostalgia, I complained about it in the comments on their Facebook page, they simply blocked me without a word of apology or explanation. So I'm sharing my story here, where they can't remove me. This organization may be doing some good for LGBT people (e.g., organizing marches and pickets), but their psychological support for me was subpar. I hope something has changed since then, but I won't be visiting them again to find out.
