Maspalomas Gay Pride

Maspalomas Pride is a week-long gay holiday on Gran Canaria, run by the local company Freedom, and it's built around the Yumbo Centre in Playa del Inglés. The Yumbo is an open-air shopping centre that turns into the island's gay nightlife hub after dark. Most visitors are northern Europeans on a spring sun break, so you'll hear more English, German and Dutch than Spanish.
The week runs on pool parties at the gay resorts, drag shows, themed nights and a stage at the Yumbo. The big day is Saturday. The march, called a manifestación-cabalgata, rolls with dozens of floats through Playa del Inglés to the Yumbo, where DJs and singers play for about ten hours into the night. Most of the program is free. The pool parties are ticketed, and so are the floats, which tour operators like TUI sell as packages.
Practical notes: the parade starts mid-afternoon, so you'll want sunscreen and water. Book apartments months ahead, as Playa del Inglés fills up. If you can't make May, there's also a Winter Pride in November, whose march drew about 40,000 people according to eldiario.es.
The 25th edition ran May 4 to 10, 2026, under the slogan "Nuestra historia, su legado, nuestro orgullo," honoring older LGBTIQ+ people. Organizers announced a fund toward Spain's first LGBTIQ+ care home for elders. The parade on Saturday, May 9, was broadcast on La 2 of RTVE. According to RTVC and EFE, the Friday gala at the Yumbo drew over 10,000 people, singer Melody drew nearly 6,000 at the Ocean Club, and about 80,000 were expected at the Yumbo on closing day. Organizers claim the 2025 edition set a record of more than 350,000 attendees and €150 million in economic impact; those are their numbers, not an independent count. One guide also noted that 2026 was trimmed from the usual eleven days to seven because of funding.
It's usually the first or second week of May. Some sites list dates for 2027, but they're estimates. Freedom hadn't announced the 2027 dates when we checked.
