The Psalter

We turned up for a late Sunday lunch to celebrate my sons birthday. He had booked the wrong Sunday!! The chef had thought there were no more bookings, and had packed up ready to go home. Instead of saying we had to come back next week he said he would stay on and cook our meal. We thought it might be warmed up left overs but everything was absolutely delicious, freshly cooked, perfect roasties, tender and perfectly cooked beef and pork and fresh veg. A real gourmet experience when we least expected it. Service was spot on. Thank you to all for a realky lovely meal. You all deserve bonus points!

Lovely Sunday lunch with family at The Psalter. The staff were incredibly welcoming, friendly, and patient with my grandmothers, which we really appreciated. A special mention to Zoe, who was attentive and kind throughout—it made the experience even more enjoyable. The service was excellent and the food was high quality throughout. The sticky toffee pudding was a standout—absolutely delicious! I’d definitely recommend a visit and supporting this great local business!

My wife treated me to dinner this evening, for my birthday, having been very impressed on a recent visit with a friend. From the friendly reception on arrival, the delightful amuse bouche shortly afterwards in the bar, the high standard of service and to the quality of the cuisine, all made for an excellent experience. We would both recommend that anyone and everyone should take the opportunity to spend an evening eating here. You will not regret it.

Had such a lovely birthday meal here with my partner. We went for the tasting menu and honestly every dish was spot on, really tasty and nicely presented without being over the top. Big shoutout to the chefs & to the restaurant manger, Katie, who looked after us all evening, she was super friendly and made the whole experience even better. Just a really nice atmosphere and everything felt easy and well-paced. Would definitely come back and recommend if you’re looking for somewhere a bit special but still relaxed.

As always we had a lovely stay, everyone is genuinely very welcoming and not just to us, but our dogs as well. They go the extra mile to make you feel at home.
