Plainsfield is a charming and very walkable town, with a wide section of small shops (the normal Knick-knack shops, but also a “Cupcake Wars” winning bakery and a phenomenal game store: The Wandering Dragon. It also has a good number of bars and eateries with a range of cuisines within an easy 10 minute walk (the closest is only two minutes away and has phenomenal wood oven pizza). The Plainsfield Inn itself has good beds, some of the best showers, and is well maintained and clean. Self check-in and out is easy and convenient. The only negative is the restored buildings are not really handicapped accessible. The North building staircase is tall and narrow. The South building is better; if you can handle a short step or two, the main floor rooms are good. Given the historical nature of the property, that is not unexpected. This is our fourth visit to the Plainsfield Inn, and we plan on returning in the future.

Good quality and good location if you need a place to stay after driving into Chicago for the night!
