ILIS 86, 40 years later: rethinking queer and feminist alliances
About the event
In March 1986, nearly 800 lesbians from around the world gathered in Geneva for the 8th conference of the International Lesbian Information Service (ILIS). For several days, the Uni Dufour auditorium became a place for meetings, debates, and struggles. Forty years later, in the same location, Professor Paola Bacchetta, who participated in the 1986 conference, will revisit this experience and highlight the dynamics of coalition, resistance, and power that shaped ILIS and this conference, as well as other feminist and queer movements internationally, both yesterday and today.
Free admission (auditorium U600), open to all, no registration required. As part of the LGBTIQ+ History Month of the City of Geneva, in partnership with the Maison de l'histoire of UNIGE.
