I had booked a room including breakfast at the Dormero DeHo Linz for €98.65 for the night of April 24th to 25th, 2026. According to the hotel, check-in was possible between 3:00 PM and 11:00 PM. Since I had attended a Christian conference in Linz during the day, I arrived at the hotel around 9:30 PM, which was within the regular check-in time. At the same time, a group of about 14 people from the same conference arrived. They had a group booking, but I had booked my room independently and privately and was unaware that the group was also staying there. There was a great deal of chaos at reception. We were told that the rooms were not yet ready and still needed to be cleaned. According to the receptionist, this could take up to three hours, as other guests were also waiting for their rooms. I was very disappointed and, frankly, shocked by this. Given the official check-in time of 3:00 PM, I hadn't expected that at 9:30 PM, numerous rooms would still be uncleaned and unready. Since it was already around 9:45 PM, the receptionist herself suggested canceling the booking and moving to another hotel. When asked if the costs of the alternative accommodation would be covered, it was explicitly confirmed that all costs would be fully covered. The employee even called nearby hotels and found enough available rooms at the Courtyard by Marriott Linz. We were assured that Dormero DeHo Linz would inform them and cover the costs. However, when we arrived at the Courtyard by Marriott, they had no record of any cost coverage. Even by the time we checked out the following morning, no such information had been received, which is why I had to pay the accommodation costs, including breakfast, of €172.40 myself. I would like to emphasize that I would not have booked a room in this price category myself. I chose the alternative accommodation solely because the reception at Dormero DeHo Linz explicitly assured me that all costs would be covered. As agreed, I delivered the bill to Dormero DeHo Linz the following day. There, I was assured that the manager would contact me on Monday. However, I never received any response. Since no one contacted me, I instructed a lawyer to send a formal demand letter. This was initially sent by email and later also by registered mail. To this day, Dormero DeHo Linz has not responded to any of these letters. The initial incident was already very disappointing. However, I find the hotel's handling of the situation and the fact that all attempts to contact them, including letters from my lawyer, have gone unanswered even now even more disappointing. Since no resolution has been reached, I will now take further steps to enforce my claims. I had hoped that a fair and amicable solution could have been found.
