About this place Romeo Bar

Romeo Bar is the cornerstone of Split's gay scene — the city's most established dedicated gay venue and the social hub around which the rest of the LGBTQ+ nightlife organises. The bar operates near the waterfront and Diocletian's Palace in a location that makes it accessible to both the local gay community and the international tourists who form an increasing part of Split's LGBTQ+ demographic in summer. Romeo Bar's longevity in a social environment that has not always been accommodating to gay venues gives it a particular significance: it has operated openly in a conservative Dalmatian city through the years when Split Pride was contested and when LGBTQ+ visibility required more courage in this part of the Adriatic than in Zagreb or the Western European cities. The atmosphere is welcoming without pretension — a bar that knows its role in the community and delivers on it. For any LGBTQ+ visitor to Split, Romeo Bar is the essential first stop.

Terrible welcome, unpleasant waiter. I absolutely do not recommend it. If I could have given zero stars, I would have.

owner is the absolutely unfriendliest person I've seen for a while. absolute no go. not surprised by the overall low rating. prepare yourself if you go there - you may come in happy and leave angry. good luck

Perfect spot for an early morning coffee/tea before the masses wake up. Did not eat here. The location is perfect to look over the water and do some people watching.

Cash only! Overpriced, and the white wine tastes like vinegar. The view is the only good thing about it.
