About this place Schräglage

Schräglage — the name translates roughly as "tilt" or "angle" — occupies one of the most desirable addresses in Stuttgart's gay scene: Calwer Strasse, the street that concentrates the highest density of LGBTQ+ venues in the city. The bar is intimate in scale, which gives it a neighbourhood-pub quality that larger venues lose: you know the faces within a few visits, the conversations flow easily, and the staff operate more like hosts than servers. The programming includes regular community events — quiz nights, fundraisers, themed parties — that keep the bar embedded in Stuttgart's LGBTQ+ social life rather than existing purely as a commercial operation. The Calwer Strasse location means you are steps from other gay bars, allowing an evening that moves along the street without requiring transport. Stuttgart is a prosperous city with a high quality of life, and that is reflected in its bars: Schräglage is maintained to a standard that makes it genuinely comfortable for an evening rather than merely functional. For visitors, the area around Calwer Strasse and Zionskirchplatz is Stuttgart's equivalent of a gay village, walkable and social.

It was quite nice, but it got so hot and drinks were relatively expensive. So something needs to be done about the ventilation. But the atmosphere was fantastic.

I've been going to Schräglage for years, and the bouncers? Always a highlight. Thanks for making sure I have a good, safe night every time!

I was at Schräglage today, the atmosphere was great. I smoked outside and chatted with the bouncers. I've never met such decent and helpful bouncers before. I was decent to them and they were to me. Looking forward to my next visit. Thanks, guys!

Aggressive Behavior by Security Personnel On Saturday, May 2, 2026, during my visit to "La Casa del Perreo," I unfortunately had a very negative experience. The club was extremely crowded and it was incredibly hot. I had bought a bottle of water and wanted to step outside briefly. At the entrance, I was told that I had to place the bottle in a barrel and couldn't take it outside. So I stood right in front of the barrel and drank some more water before going outside. Suddenly, a member of the security staff came and snatched the bottle from my hand. When I said that I was only drinking water, he gave it back to me, but then, without warning, grabbed me by the neck and tried to force me down the stairs or back into the club. I was completely shocked. I hadn't consumed any alcohol, nor had I started or provoked any arguments. After I got back inside the club, I informed my friend, and we went to the cashier to report the incident. The security guard then started shouting loudly, threatened my girlfriend, and pushed her away, telling her not to get involved. Other security guards who had witnessed the incident subsequently threw us out of the club without allowing us to retrieve our belongings. Only after the police arrived was I allowed to collect my personal items, and even then, I initially resisted in their presence. During the incident, I sustained an elbow injury. A police report has been filed. Such behavior is absolutely unacceptable and disproportionate. You go to a club to have a good time, not to be physically assaulted for no reason. Based on this experience and for your safety, I cannot recommend this establishment.
