Gay Project

Gay Project is the Republic of Ireland's only dedicated community development organisation working with gay, bisexual, trans and queer men, and it has been part of Cork life for decades. From its community space at 10/10A High Street, it runs weekly peer support and social groups, one-to-one support, and community events - including the Cork Queer College programme and the WellGBT+ wellbeing hub - that give the city a queer social calendar well beyond the bar scene. For visitors, Gay Project is a useful first stop for finding out what is actually on in Cork in any given week. The organisation is behind the Gay Card initiative, which signs up bars, cafes and businesses across the city as visibly LGBTQ+-welcoming venues, and it plays an active role in Cork Pride each summer. Staff can also signpost the city's other services, including LINQ Ireland on White Street for LBQ women, trans and non-binary people, and the Sexual Health Centre on the South Mall for free rapid HIV testing.
