Good place to have a few drinks

Unfortunately, this place was a huge disappointment. Not because of any incident or other inconvenience, but we were going there for the mens @ work event and even though we arrived a few hours after the start, the bar was literally empty and there were about 2 people in the cruising arena. We expected a bigger crowd, especially when they had a theme night, but the opposite was true. The subsidiary Dirty Dicks was much fuller that night, even without any theme. Fortunately, a nice and helpful bartender, I think the same one as the day before in DD, explained to us that it is possible to move from one to the other, and he also willingly lent me a comfortable bathrobe to cross the street. It is a shame that such nice staff and such a large and amazing place with a cruising program only attracted barely 10 people that night. It has the potential for much more, it just needs to be used! One beer and 10 minutes inside is really not enough for a good review….

Elsewhere wrongly described as a leather and fetish bar, the Eagle has long since (at least a decade) morphed into a late night cruise bar with darkroom. Service depends on who you get, but I’m a regular patron and in my experience only one or two of the servers ever seem happy to be here. Prices are fair and they often have a DJ for funkier vibes and a small dance floor that does get used. Like much of Amsterdam’s scene, it’s not as busy as it once was, though it will be packed on holidays etc. Well maintained, you can be as louche or not as you see fit here.

We were here on a Saturday night before 11 so it was a bit early. The space is good and the downstairs dark area has cubicles and hallways like a maze. The crowd was friendly and good music.
