About the event

On March 31, 1986, a large demonstration in favor of "political asylum for lesbians from all countries" was held in the streets of Geneva. This mobilization marked the end of the 8th International ILIS Conference. On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of this conference, which was a turning point for the organization of lesbian groups worldwide, this study day revisits the history of lesbian internationalism from the 1970s to the present day, through its networks, spaces, struggles, and forms of solidarity and alliance.
The study day is accompanied by an exhibition designed by scenographer Nadia Crivelli and the Lestime team, which invites visitors to discover, through unpublished archives, the history of Geneva's lesbian movements and their transnational connections.
Consult the detailed program on ilis86.archivescontestataires.ch. Free admission (Carson room), open to all, no registration required. As part of the LGBTIQ+ History Month of the City of Geneva.
