About this place Yellow Submarine

Yellow Submarine is a gay-friendly hotel located in Punta Arenas, the capital city of Chile's Magallanes region. Situated on Avenida Cristobal Colón in the heart of the city, this venue offers accommodation for LGBTQ+ travelers exploring one of South America's most southerly destinations. Punta Arenas serves as a gateway to some of Chile's most dramatic landscapes, including access to Patagonia and Antarctica expeditions. As a gay hotel, this venue caters specifically to LGBTQ+ guests seeking welcoming lodging in a city that, while smaller than Chile's major urban centers, has developed infrastructure to support diverse travelers. The property provides a safe, affirming space for visitors who want to explore the region while staying somewhere that explicitly welcomes the LGBTQ+ community. Whether you're traveling through Magallanes for adventure tourism, business, or simply to experience southern Chile's unique culture and scenery, this accommodation offers a convenient base. The location on a main avenue means easy access to the city's shops, restaurants, and services. For LGBTQ+ travelers venturing to this remote region, having a dedicated gay-friendly hotel can enhance the overall travel experience by providing peace of mind and community connection.

Very well located near by the center and the beach. Good breakfast. The owner gave us a bigger room for the same price. I recommand it.

Cute place. Close to everywhere. Clean and easy to stay. Heating is working well. Breakfast could be better but enough for fast eating. Garden is good, you should see the roses. Car park is limited, ask before you come.

Very disappointing stay. The heater did not work at all, which made the room extremely uncomfortable, especially at night. When we informed the host, they were unhelpful and quite impolite instead of trying to resolve the issue. The breakfast was terrible — very limited options, poor quality, and not fresh. The bathrooms were also congested, poorly designed, and often felt unclean due to overcrowding. Overall, the service, facilities, and comfort were far below expectations. I would not recommend staying here.

Dirty, poorly maintained, bad service, poorly ventilated, and absurdly expensive. And they want you to pay in cash. Horrible!

A filthy dive!!! Run away!!! Grumpy owners, poorly maintained and dirty rooms and bathrooms, worn-out towels, and an exorbitant price for what they offer. (If you have allergies, bring your inhaler or a Polaramine injection, because you'll need it.) I found it awful. I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy. I doubt they have an operating license. If there's a fire, it will be very difficult to escape. If you weigh more than 70kg, you probably won't fit through the tiny window in the room (see photo).
