I can honestly recommend Wild Alaska Inn. It's situated in a beatiful wild scenery, with lots of wildlife aroud. Owners were able to accomodate our request for vegan meals, I'm sure that they'd be able to meet any other dietary restrictions such a gluten free or vegetarian menu. What's more, our meals were tasty and made using local produce. It's worth noting that owners rely heavily on green energy, they solar panels and they use electric cars when moving guests around. Always a nice thing. They are the kind of special people you want to meet during your Alaskan travels. Their story is inspiring. I hope I'll come back to Wild Alaska Inn in future!
Plenty of local information available. Great breakfasts. They will help assure any needed access around the area.
Great spot in Gustavus. Ela and family were very accommodating - pick up/drop off at the airport, recommendations, lovely brekkie by Ela, she even called Todd to book our whale tours with the Taz (highly recommend to see humpback whales up close), free bikes which we used to bike to Glacier Bay (30-40mims) and Gustavus (15mins), clean rooms and comfortable beds. Ask her tales of epic sailing adventures, the building of her house, and the whale skeleton in glacier bay.
Great people, great food, great experience overall!
We really enjoyed the stay in Wild Alaska Inn. Room is nice and clean. Ela and Jan are really hospitable and sweet. Food was wonderful, especially their dinner. We used the bikes a lot (downtown, hiking trails, Glacier Bay national park...). It's really easy to get around from Wild Alaska Inn.
Janus and Ela are perfect hosts and provide an excellent B&B with many other benefits to explore Gustavus and Glacier Bay. They arranged our Glacier Bay tour, provided local travel needs including bikes. Their food was outstanding especially the dinner and their guests were bright and enjoyable. Janus is gifted as a photographer, sailor, construction engineer and navigator using the most up to date internet tools. I understand why so many folks recommend Wild Alaska Inn. Above all they are down to earth folks you would love to have in your neighborhood. Gustavus would be poorer without them.
