Kuaʻana Project

The Kuaʻana Project is a program of the Hawaiʻi Health & Harm Reduction Center dedicated to the transgender and māhū communities of Hawaiʻi. Founded in 2015, it offers peer support, help with legal name and gender-marker changes, food distribution and cultural programming grounded in the Native Hawaiian understanding of māhū as a respected third-gender identity. It is one of the few services in the Pacific centred specifically on trans and Indigenous queer wellbeing.
