About this place Queen's Surf Beach

Queen's Surf Beach is the recognised gay beach of Honolulu and has been the community's daytime gathering spot for decades. It sits at the eastern end of the Waikiki strip, fronting Kapiolani Park between the Kapahulu Groin and the Waikiki Aquarium, directly across Kalakaua Avenue from the Honolulu Zoo and a short walk from Hula's Bar & Lei Stand. The gently shelving sand and calmer water suit swimming and sunbathing, and the grassy park behind the beach hosts picnics, movie nights and Pride-season gatherings. It is a public, family-friendly beach that also happens to be the historic heart of queer Waikiki.
