About this place Hoornse Plas Cruising Area

The Hoornse Plas, a swimming lake on the southern edge of Groningen, hosts one of the most established cruising areas in the region, next to the nudist beach on the quieter shore. It is so well known that the municipality reshaped the terrain in 2012-2013 specifically to separate sunbathers, naturists and cruisers - about as close to official recognition as a cruising spot gets. Summer afternoons and early evenings are busiest. Tolerated in typical Dutch fashion; be discreet and leave the place as you found it.

As a resident of Groningen and the wider area, you have every reason to be pleased with such a beautiful recreational lake. It was dug in the early 1970s and is actually an extension of the Hoornse Meer. * There are several large, free parking lots. * There is a large, wide beach where activities regularly take place. * There are also large play and sunbathing areas with a number of trees for shade. * The play and wading pools are well-defined. * A spacious section features all kinds of play equipment and is very popular. * The southern part of the lake offers free recreation (nude beach, etc.) and is heavily visited. * Catering facilities are available, including Restaurant Kaap Hoorn, which has a large terrace and more. * It is possible to walk around the entire lake. The Meerschap Paterswolde maintains the entire area in an exemplary manner. In short, a lake that is truly impressive. Ed

Always pleasant, and not busy during the week. You can use the toilet. Unfortunately, it is not cleaned well. You can get drinks and snacks there until it is no longer busy, and the staff is very friendly. Plenty of parking and there are bus stops nearby.

A beautiful swimming lake for Groningen! The surrounding area is great for cycling in nature. At the lake itself, there are three beach kiosks selling snacks, ice cream, and drinks, two of which are open very irregularly. There is also a first aid post on busy days and various toilet facilities, which are, however, dirty because they are not supervised. Ample parking is available nearby, and the beautiful restaurant Kaap Hoorn is in the middle.

A beautiful place for recreation. Suitable for both clothed and naturist visitors.
