Matinée Group is an LGBTQ+ organization in Barcelona, Spain, that produces events and runs a community space from a storefront in Carrer de la Canuda.
This isn't a bar or a club, though Matinée Group throws plenty of parties around town. Think of it more as a home base for Barcelona's queer community, a place where locals and travelers can get information, connect, and find out what's going on.
Barcelona's long been good to LGBTQ+ travelers, with queer life spread out across different neighborhoods. But it helps to have a spot like this one, somewhere to get local insights and find events that feel right for you. They'll know about the dedicated venues, the cultural institutions, and all the one-off parties that make up the city's queer scene.
Before you go, check their website or drop them a line. They'll have the most current info on events and how to connect with the group while you're in town.

We went to the candy party on Friday night... It's purely a marketing ploy to squeeze as much money out of you as possible. As for the cloakroom: guys hang a shirt on one hanger, a jacket on another, and a sweatshirt on a third, just to squeeze in a little more... Drinks are €8 for a beer, and the entrance fee is ridiculously high. In short, it cost over €100 for two people just to watch a few divas shake their hips... I thought it was a real show, like the "Démène" (a French comedy club)... The moral of the story is that it's just a way to pick guys' pockets. We would have had a much better time at a regular club. So, we were disappointed with this type of event, as they call it, which may have been once the case, but it isn't anymore. Next time, our money will go to the Belgians... lol.
I went to the Matinee Gold on April 30th. We loved the event, and the professionalism and attentiveness of the bar staff, especially a waiter named Sergio, deserve special mention.
GUAPO Party 19/04/2025. Air conditioning turned off so people would drink more? Are we crazy? This has happened several times and it's shameful. Stop treating people like they were born yesterday. Whoever organizes this should be ashamed of themselves, and I hope they get the message. I encourage everyone who went to leave a review so these people wake up and do their job, which is what we pay a fortune for. Next party without air conditioning and it'll be the last one I go to.
They haven't changed in 20 years, the formula and the aesthetics, seriously only 22 reviews in 20 years?🤣🤣🤣🤣
