Hôtel Agora Swiss Night by Fassbind

The air conditioning control, located on the side of the headboard, against the wall and with a piece of furniture in front of it, made it extremely difficult to access and rather absurd to use. The room was nevertheless clean, with a very nice view of the city. The biggest drawback was the breakfast. For the price, one would have expected a wider selection and better quality. The cheese, wrapped in plastic, was low-grade, as were the few hot items offered. But the most unpleasant thing was one of the staff members. When I asked for more sausages, this blonde woman asked me how many I wanted. It's a buffet: it's not up to me to give a precise number, especially when there's still an hour and a half before closing. It's simply a matter of consideration for the next guests. Then, this same woman, while setting the tables, dropped—almost threw—the teaspoons onto the bowls, making a considerable racket. A little peace and quiet is certainly welcome at breakfast. As we were leaving, we received a simple "goodbye," without even a glance. Very welcoming. But the worst part was check-out: this same person was at reception with a colleague. When I mentioned that the air conditioning controls weren't easily accessible, she interrupted my conversation (with the other receptionist) to tell me that the window control was near the window. I replied that I wasn't talking about the windows, but the air conditioning. She repeated the exact same thing. I then pointed out that this was completely irrelevant, since I wasn't talking about the windows. All my interactions with this person were extremely unpleasant and disrespectful. Madam, you can have a bad day—it happens to everyone—but a minimum of professionalism and respect should be expected when interacting with customers. Accepting criticism and questioning yourself are part of the process. If you can't do that, at least spare the customers who came to have a good time your attitude. However, I would like to point out that everyone else I encountered, especially at reception, was very kind, smiling, and respectful. Perhaps this should serve as an example to others.

As a foreigner from Mauritius, I stayed at Agora Swiss Night by Fassbind for 6 days while visiting Switzerland for professional reasons. As a practising Muslim, Agora was an ideal place for me since the Lausanne Mosque is just steps away from the hotel. There is also a Denner supermarket around the corner and a halal Turkish restaurant nearby. The hotel service was excellent, with daily room cleaning and fresh towels provided every day. The breakfast buffet was also excellent, offering a wide variety of food including yogurt, different kinds of bread, cheese, eggs, hot drinks, and much more.

It could be a bit cleaner. Otherwise, I slept very well and had breakfast in a fantastic location.

Good breakfast.

The hotel was very clean and well-located, halfway between the lake and the upper town. The rooms were well-equipped. The reception staff were very pleasant. The breakfast offered a wide variety of choices. The hotel also has a small gym and a sauna.

Beautiful hotel with paid parking. Very convenient, with the subway nearby. Very friendly staff. Excellent breakfast. Highly recommended!
