About this place Richmond Tea Rooms

Richmond Tea Rooms, on Richmond Street in Manchester’s Village, is a Victorian-themed spot that feels like it’s been airlifted from another century.

The place is designed to the hilt: think ornate chandeliers, gothic flourishes everywhere, and an overall vibe that’s far from your average modern coffee shop. They’ve really committed to the bit, and it works.

You come here for the full spread: a serious tea list, fresh-baked scones, a whole counter of cakes. It’s a proper sit-down experience, not a grab-and-go. The details in the décor match the menu’s ambition, making it a good choice if you want something a bit more formal than usual.

The Tea Rooms sit right in Manchester’s Village, the city’s LGBTQ+ neighborhood, surrounded by other queer-friendly businesses. It’s easy to find, and a solid bet if you’re after a quiet afternoon with good tea and some visual drama. Check richmondtearooms.com for opening hours.

This is the loveliest afternoon tea I’ve been to and the atmosphere was great. I came here for my wife’s birthday and, even though I hadn’t mentioned that it was her birthday beforehand, Ida (the lovely person who served us) put a candle on her cake and wished her a happy birthday. Ida made it that bit more special and was lovely to speak to. We would come again! 💖

Been looking forward to trying this place on my first trip to Manchester - and wasn’t disappointed. The place is very pretty - themed on Mad Hatters Tea Party from Alice in Wonderland. Had two delicious tea infused scones with cream and jam. Will be back to try one of their cakes!!!

Warm and welcoming staff when you arrive. The menu options are outstanding. I was able to have a dairy free afternoon tea without having pre order. The variety of sandwiches was varied and full of flavour. Clean and beautifully decorated. Staff were very helpful. We will definitely be visiting again 🤩
