About this place 312 Chicago

This Italian restaurant at 136 North LaSalle Street, right in Chicago's Loop, is a gay-friendly spot for a good meal.

It sits next to the Hotel Allegro, making it easy to pop in if you're staying downtown or just wandering around. An Italian-born chef runs the kitchen, so the food feels like the real deal — traditional Italian flavors, no fuss.

The place makes a point of being welcoming to everyone, LGBTQ+ travelers and locals included. The Loop has plenty of restaurants, but this one carves out its own space by pairing decent Italian cooking with an openly inclusive vibe. It's the kind of place where you don't have to think twice about feeling comfortable, whether you're in Chicago for work or just for fun.

Being in the Loop means you're close to everything. It’s a solid choice if you want authentic Italian and a friendly atmosphere without straying far from the city center.

Unfortunately hotel management decided to close the doors permanently.

I had the salmon and house white wine. Perfect for a nice quiet dinner by myself as I pass through Chicago. Delicious food, excellent service, nice quiet atmosphere.

The Caesar salad, cocktails, and tiramisu were the highlights. The pasta was average. It’s a very small menu - only 5 pasta dishes are listed. Two fish options. One chicken. One steak. It has great proximity to the theater district. I’d go for cocktails at the bar, but with the vast number of high end restaurants in the city, I would not dine here again.

Sat at a 5 top, ordered coffee and the mezzaluna omelette breakfast. Sausage, ham, and toast were cold. Potatoes were overly salty. Had to ask for a coffee refill. The omelette itself was lovely though.

This was my third time dining at this restaurant, and the food has been consistently excellent. The chef personally assisted with serving and ensured everything was perfect. However, the staff lacked knowledge about wine and the ability to deliver a truly top-notch experience for my colleagues. Update: Horrible, horrible news, the hotel is shutting down this gem few days before Christmas.

I was a single woman at your bar with a big shot to my right yes.He had calamari and then the steak. The staff knew him. On my left a sweet couple. And then there was me. Hello I’m here???

3 couples dined here this week in advance of a theatre show. The food was fantastic and our server, Carrie, made our dining experience even better. She was very interactive with our table, informative with menu recommendations and seemed to enjoy her role very much. Thank you Carrie for providing a great start to our evening.
