via Stay22About this place Atwood Café
Atwood Café, at 1 West Washington Street, serves comfort food in an upscale setting downtown, a great spot for dinner if you're hitting the theater.
You’ll find Atwood right in the thick of things, near a bunch of Chicago’s playhouses. That makes it easy for a pre-show bite or a post-curtain nightcap. The menu skews expensive, but the food and service make it worth it.
Chicago’s dining scene is openly gay-friendly, and Atwood is no exception. They do elevated comfort food, so think familiar dishes done with better ingredients and a bit more polish. It’s a solid choice if you want something a little nicer, whether you’re in town for a show, for work, or just to see the city.
Its downtown location means public transport is easy, as are other Loop attractions. For menus and more, check atwoodrestaurant.com.

All around horrible experience. Waited 10 minutes to be seated, despite place being dead. Ordered food for here, they gave it to me in bag to go, no silverware or napkin, etc
Waitress was rude and never came back to the table no refills on drinks had to track someone down to get the bill was not worth it whatsoever.
DO NOT EAT HERE. our reservation was at 5:30. They took 30 minutes just to take our order, and then took our menus before ordering, because they forgot about us. At 6:30 the manager told us the chef “didn’t get our ticket and they just put our food down now.” What the hell?????? They did not offer to comp our drinks until we asked. They did not seem to know what to do and just faffed unprofessionally at us. We left without food. Horrible service. Which is disappointing because I’ve been here before and it was lovely.
Food was average. They seem understaffed; almost basically no waiter around after we ordered. Had issues w order that took long time to resolve due to no one coming to check how the meal was going at any point. Not coming again.
We made reservations for a 7pm dinner. We arrived early and waited for our table to be ready. Once we were seated, we waited for another 20 mins before our server came over and with water glasses. My wife's water had a long black hair floating in her drink. At that point we just got up left. I doubt we will back.
