About this place South Water Kitchen

South Water Kitchen: A relaxed, gay-friendly spot for dinner on the Chicago River at 225 North Wabash Avenue.

You’ll find South Water Kitchen along the south bank of the Chicago River, a place that wants you to take your time. This isn’t about quick bites; it’s about settling in for dinner with people you like, letting the conversation run.

They’re openly family-friendly, too, so it’s a good choice for LGBTQ+ travelers coming to Chicago with partners, friends, or kids. It’s one of those downtown spots where the vibe is just easy, no fuss, just a comfortable place to eat.

If you’re looking for a dependable, unpretentious dinner near the riverfront, this is it. Check southwaterkitchen.com for the menu, hours, or to book a table.

Great breakfast selection. They could come by with a coffee refill a little bit more frequent.

Both my wife's and my orders were wrong. Waiter, who was bartending, completely ignored us and never asked how the food was or refilled our drinks which both had run out. Food was ok. Obviously not so rare. Read the other reviews.

I came here last week with my family for my birthday dinner! It was a truly unforgettable evening thank you to the excellent service we received from our server Amir! Amir was delightful and well educated on the menu. He made some great recommendations, and we had such a great time thank you to the ambiance he created. Of course, we must also tip our hats to the kitchen that created an incredible meal for us. A must visit!
