New Haven Inn

This is a sanitation complaint for the New Haven Inn (100 Pond Lily Ave). The room had an active ant infestation — ants in the bed, on the sheets, and on the furniture. I have photos. The property refused to help. Please forward to Environmental Health for inspection.

It was okay, we stayed 3 days. Found some pointy thing in one of the beds, there weren't very many outlets for phone chargers and all, but other than that it was okay

We booked this motel last minute while travelling from New York to Boston, and unfortunately I made the mistake of not checking the reviews beforehand. Even if I had, I might have assumed they were exaggerated—but that was not the case. On arrival, the exterior appeared very run-down, and the reception area was not much better. I will say that the staff were polite and did offer us an alternative room, which we appreciated. However, after seeing the condition of the first room, we did not feel comfortable accepting another. Access to the non-smoking rooms requires crossing a courtyard that felt unsafe and poorly maintained. Upon entering the room, it was immediately clear that the standard was extremely poor. As it was late, we had initially hoped to stay just long enough to rest, charge our devices, and shower—but that quickly proved impossible. Within minutes, we noticed several serious issues: the wall-mounted TV was smashed and stuck on a bright pink screen, the bedding was heavily stained, and the mattress underneath was in a shocking condition, with visible marks and damage. The bathroom was equally concerning—we did not feel comfortable using any of the facilities. There were ants around the sink area, and debris, including ash and a plastic cap in a cabinet, which raised further concerns about cleanliness and safety. We left the room within 10 minutes as we did not feel safe staying there. Based on our experience, this property is in urgent need of inspection and significant improvement. I have reported the matter to the local authorities for further investigation.

Save your money and go somewhere else. This place is absolutely horrible. We reserved a non smoking room with a king size bed for 2. The first room we were sent to had a standard bed with one pillow, TV didn't work, no furniture, fridge on the floor, no dead bolt luck on the door and limited parking in a really dark parking lot. The building that it was in, was behind the main building and felt truly in safe especially with all the construction they had going on. When we went back to the lobby to get moved to another room we were told all they had left was a queen, again not what we paid for. This room wasn't much better. Dirty the only piece of furniture in the room had sticky goo all over it, the toilet ran all night long, the bed was about as comfortable as sleep on a deflating air mattress. This TV at least worked after we had to hook it up. Fridge on the floor, tiles missing in the bathroom and a oval toilet with a round toilet seat on it. Coming up to the second floor the carpets are disgusting and dirty. Staff was not helpful at all. There are zero amenities. No place to put your belongings other than the floor and zero outlets to charge devices.
