About this place Oberwasser

Oberwasser is a gay restaurant in Berlin's Prenzlauer Berg, where German food gets a modern update in an intimate, relaxed setting. This isn't your grandma's German cooking. Oberwasser takes familiar dishes and twists them, making them interesting for anyone who thinks about what they eat. The place itself feels easygoing, a neighborhood spot where queer travelers and locals can just settle in. Service isn't rushed here. It moves at its own speed, which suits the idea of actually enjoying your meal and the people you're with. Sometimes, they have live music or performances, which makes it more than just a place to eat. You'll find it at 6 Zionskirchstraße. If you want good German food with personality, and a real LGBTQ+ welcome, this is it.

Café Oberwasser closed permanently on March 23, 2019. The address now houses "KuKu - Art & Culinary Arts," an event venue for various occasions. KuKu is a small gallery with a photo studio; they also continue to offer cooking services, but by appointment.

Small and individual, simply a place to feel good.

The owner was absolutely unfriendly, terrible! Completely inflexible, in a bad mood, and grumpy!
