About This Event

Galway Community Pride - Brod na Gaillimhe - is Ireland's longest continually running Pride festival, first held in Eyre Square in 1989. What began as a gathering of around fifteen people has grown into a week-long celebration across Galway city each August, run by a volunteer-led community organisation.

The festival programme spans talks, family events, arts, and queer club nights, and culminates in the Pride Parade on the closing Saturday. The parade gathers in the city centre and moves through to the Westend for speeches and a street party. It is free and open to everyone.

Galway's compact, walkable centre means the whole festival is easy to navigate on foot, and Pride week is the busiest time of year for the city's queer nightlife, with Club GASS and other nights hosting special parties. Early August in the west of Ireland means packing for rain whatever the forecast. Check galwaypride.ie for the full programme and confirmed dates.
