What reviewers say

Visitors praise Crisco Bar for its historic gay club atmosphere in Florence, with many enjoying the great music, particularly from DJ Dat Vila, and the energetic crowd. However, common complaints include people smoking inside the venue, which leaves clothes smelling of smoke, and some find the owner to be unfriendly. There are mixed reviews on the music and drinks, with some finding them bad while others enjoy them.

About this place Crisco Bar

Crisco Bar on Via Sant'Egidio is a few streets from Tabasco, similarly located in the Santa Croce quarter, but operates in a different register: less tourist-facing, more local, more oriented towards the cruising and club scene. The venue spreads across two floors: a bar and dance floor upstairs with a more mainstream music programme, and a lower level with a darker, more cruise-focused atmosphere including a defined darkroom section. The crowd is predominantly gay male and skews slightly older than Tabasco — 30s to 50s — reflecting the venue's appeal to Florentine locals rather than international tourists. Friday and Saturday are the main nights. Crisco has hosted some of Florence's most important queer club nights and circuit events over the years, including events coordinated with the Arcigay Firenze calendar. The dress code on weekend nights is permissive but the venue rewards those who engage with its underground character.

If you're in Florence and want to have a great night out, perhaps meet some nice people, and spend some quality time with some great techno music, you're in the right place. DJ DAT VILA is phenomenal, by the way. I can assure you, I went alone, and besides meeting some really nice, energetic people, the music topped it all off, creating a truly amazing atmosphere. I highly recommend it if you're looking for a great night out in Florence.

We went with a Brazilian couple and were very well received. We loved the different atmosphere.

Don't waste your time going to this place. Bad music and bad drinks. Not to mention that the gay men who frequent the club wait at the door for someone they're interested in to come in, and if they don't like someone, they make faces and comments! Terrible! I don't recommend it. And the place has zero hookups.

Update: Went last night 28/3/26 and I could see massive improvement. The smoke area has door and stronger ventilation so you don’t stink of smoke afterwards anymore. Darkroom has cubicles for privacy which makes it much more enjoyable if you want to play privately. Last night was packed, good vibe. Yes few girls but I guess that’s understandable they don’t really go to the darkroom.
