About this place Mantamar Hotel & Bar

Mantamar Hotel combines gay accommodation and bar operations in a single Playa del Inglés property — a format that works particularly well in the Gran Canaria context where the social life of a gay resort hotel extends naturally from pool terrace to bar without requiring guests to leave the building. The hotel has developed a particular following within the bears community, making it a natural choice during the bear-oriented events that punctuate the Gran Canaria gay calendar. The pool terrace serves as a social hub across the day; the bar operates into the evening as both a pre-Yumbo gathering point and an in-house social option for guests who want to stay closer to the hotel. The Yumbo Center location — immediately adjacent to the complex — provides the nightlife infrastructure; Mantamar provides the recovery space and the social context that makes a Gran Canaria stay into something more than a series of nights at different bars. A solid all-round option for visitors who value the combined hotel-bar format.

Even if you paid for a room you can’t take any drinks or snacks onto beach.. they force you to buy over priced soda and cocktails…the hotel charges resort fees and then still searches your bags when you go to pool or beach club and will not let you bring any drinks or snacks in. You are forced to purchase their drinks and food.

A bit pretentious and rude staff to be honest. Went to do my check in process for the beach clubs and the two employees that were talking just kept staring at me until I finally said “so who do I talk to?” Like I’m here to pay your overpriced cover charge and you can’t even greet me with a smile or say hello? I’d only recommend coming here on a Friday or Saturday where you’ll get somewhat your money’s worth and get a crowd. During the week it’s pretty dead here. Wish they’d switch up the music and not play so much circuit music. I’m 50/50 on this place. Might or might not go back. They check your bags and you have to throw out any beverages you have, even if unopened and non-alcoholic.
