About this place Remingtons

Remingtons, a gay bar on Capitol Hill, was a fixture in Washington D.C.'s LGBTQ+ scene for over three decades. It opened in 1982, taking over from another spot called Equus, and for 34 years, it was a reliable meeting place for the city's gay community. People went there to hang out, to feel like they belonged. Capitol Hill has always been one of D.C.'s big LGBTQ+ neighborhoods. Even though gay bars there can be anything from quiet places for a drink to full-on dance clubs, they're all about community. They're where people connect, celebrate, and just feel at home. Remingtons was one of those places for generations. The bar closed in April 2014. If you're looking for LGBTQ+ nightlife now, you'll find other spots still going strong in and around Capitol Hill.

The food is always good, and I enjoy the opportunity to meet and connect with nice people here. Unfortunately, my most recent visit was disappointing. I waited more than 15 minutes for my pizza, and when it was finally served, it was lukewarm instead of hot and fresh. While the atmosphere was pleasant as always, the extended wait time and food temperature took away from an otherwise enjoyable experience.

Update: Cream of crab is a little light on crab, but the flavor is there, also, the lucky little lamb burger is 11/10. The feta, paired with the lamb and pesto is a knockout combination. Chili is a go to as well. Would take a pint of it home if I could. Service is great, They make great pizzas, 3 Little pigs is definitely a top contender. The remington burger is tender, juicy, and filling. The house cocktails are creative and delicious. Awesome nachos. A genuinely good bar with good service and a clean atmosphere. Dr Pepper tacos are worth a try as well. They also host a great trivia night, but come early for that because parking fills up quick. You can't go wrong with this place. They're gonna leave you happy and fed.
