Staff were okay. Only stayed one night, but. Friendly enough.
Was a good price for Chicago and in a good area. Room was clean except for the bathroom door that was all stained from dirty fingerprints. It was the first motel in many years that I have stayed at that didn't have a mini fridge or a microwave. No extra blankets either and bedsheet was so small it didn't even pull higher up than my chest. Don't know what they do when it's cold. Had to ask for extra towel and facecloth the first 2 days. They just supplied 1 for the room! Sunday's cleaning was very sloppy. Towels were picked up but old facecloth left behind. Also, bed was made very sloppily. However, the maid on Monday did an excellent job cleaning the room. Upon check in, had to return to the front desk 3 times before the room would open. The clerk acted annoyed with me-how about me having to go up and down stairs 3 times because the card apparatus was so old and loose on the door? How about installing key pads or going back to keys? Could be a nice motel but ownership seems really cheap. Surprised Choice is affiliated with it.
Old but clean could have used new pillows and a blow dryer in the bathroom but overall not to bad
I loved my visit to Portage Park – the staff greeted me with a warm smile and answered all my questions about the menu with knowledgeable enthusiasm. The cozy, speakeasy‑style ambiance and the fresh, locally sourced dishes made every bite a delight, and the wood‑hued décor created the perfect relaxed vibe. I’ll definitely be back for another unforgettable experience!
