About This Event
Medellín's Feria de las Flores, the Festival of Flowers, happens every August. It's one of Colombia's big annual events, a week focused on Antioquia's flower-growing history and the *silleteros*, the people who carry big flower displays on their backs in the Desfile de Silleteros parade.
The festival brings concerts, street performers, and a particular kind of happy energy to Medellín. The city feels like it's celebrating itself.
If you're LGBTQ+, the Feria is a good time to see Medellín really come alive. El Poblado's gay scene is buzzing all week. Combine that with the festival's events, Medellín's "eternal spring" weather, and the city itself, and August becomes one of the best times to visit.
The Desfile de Silleteros, on the festival's last Sunday, is one of the most visually stunning public events you'll see in South America.
