Café Westerdok is one of those places that just seems to exist, it abides it's not a place that's been designed, it doesn't have a concept, high or otherwise, or a theme or an aesthetic, but if you're at all partial to a pint, you'll want to visit this place fashions and fads have no bearing here all that matters is the stuff in your glass, of which they stock an impressive 70 different beers. Most of these are Dutch and Belgian, with a huge selection of traditional Abbey and Trappist brews available to choose from. The distinctive glasses each different beer comes in its own unique vessel add to the place's charm and appeal. Admittedly it's not that prepossessing from the outside and inside it's a simple and familiar mix of worn, warm wood and beer memorabilia, with the odd nautical touch thrown in for good measure. There are also billiards and darts if that floats your boat and occasional live music nights. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, the crowd mixed and it's pretty much all you'd want a traditional Dutch bar to be.
